Default vibes?

My o6 883 vibrates something awful, numbs hands constantly. Do all 883's do this? and are the 1200's any better? Does fuel injected versus carbs make any difference?

Ride a sporty with a rigid mount motor, you'll think yours is super smooth afterwards. Unless you have something out of balance....tires, flywheel, timming off, carb tuning, bad plugs. Between carb and injection, if the carb is tuned properly there is really isn't any difference, other than you don't have to mess with a choke with injection. I have 94 sporty with a rigid mount motor, and I even have cheapo handgrips, and I never had issues with too much vibration that my hands would numb up. You could try foam grips, that will take out a lot of the vibration you feel in your hands. So my opinion is that there either is something wrong with your bike causing excess vibes, or your being a baby...LOL Or if your a fairly new rider, you may be making the mistake a lot a new riders make, and your simply holding your grips too tightly, you should have a relaxed grip.

No problems with my 06 883 I mean it vibrates but not to the point it bothers me. Relax and enjoy the ride don't fight with it.

My 06 1200C vibrates some but is actually pretty smooth overall. You might check the torque setting on your front motor mount isolators as this has been a common vibration issue on rubbermounts that is easily fixed.

Check all the fasteners on the bike , including the handle bar riser bolts ands motormounts. My 97 is solid mounted and is not too bad 3200-35-- is the worst rpm range. Mark...

If all the above fails, you might try installing some iso grips.

I have read that the 883 actually has less vibration than the 1200 and my 1200 is no problem at all. There has to be a mechanical issue somewhere.

One thing I've learned though is that you can't loosen your grip too much on a Sportster or the grips can get jerked right out of your hands. Very stiff front suspension!

I have a 97, Vibrates some but not bad. I can see out the Mirrors. Might want to do some checking and see if something is loose or a defect causing the Vibration.

I got a rigid mount 1200 and it's not as bad as some people make them out to be.Try relaxing your grip on the bars first.Maybe switch out the grips and get some gloves with gel padding to absorb some vibes.I personally like the vibes.I also use a Throttle Rocker for the longer trips. It works like a charm, but try relaxing a bit first.

I have to agree that griping the handlebars will cause your hands to get numb. Much of the way you ride can be the cause but, there are a few things that you can do to minimize this. First and foremost, are you in good physical condition? Poor circulation can cause this problem. Vibrations are to be expected, afterall, you're not riding in your car. Try adjusting the bars up or down a little to see if that will help. Wear gloves. Note your position to the bars in the seat.Too close and, or being too far, will cause this. Try some new grips that are a little softer. The rocker will help a lot in lessening your grip. If your mirror vibrates excessivly, perhaps you have a loose motor mount that needs to be inspected.Don't get discouraged.
