I am considering picking up an 2001 883 sportster with a 1205 kit installed. Needs some work. I am wondering what year/size sportster parts will be compatible with this bike and if most parts like stock fenders/seats ect are readily available. I know this is probably common knowledge to most, I tried searching it out first but didn't come up with a solid answer.
Any thoughts on the 01 sportster model would be appreciated too....I hope this works out. I've been wanting to get a Harley for a long time now and have been riding and working on bikes my entire life. Its about time I picked up something made in America!
Almost all parts from any '96 through '03 sporty, 883 or 1200, will fit your bike. It's a rather bullet proof bike as long as you maintain it like any other vehicle. My '00 has been going strong since new with very limited upkeep.
I know for a fact a '95 fender is slightly different for how the tail light mounts and that the tail only has three wires going to it instead of the having the wire/rear light junction box under the tail light for all the rear lights/signals like mine. Yes, just look for '96 through '03 parts. The frame didn't change through those years. There were only minimal cosmetic changes that really would not effect how the parts mount.
Awesome....hopefully I can find a nice gloss black rear and front fender for an affordable price in the classifieds. There doesnt seem to be too much available local and ebay is suprisingly expensive
Looks like I am due for an oil change as well....can't wait to start wrenching on this beast and get to know it a little better
I also need to get some Progressive Suspensions front fork spring kits (or something similar) to beef up my front end.
Annnnd I am just gonna get my post count up...need these parts asap
I hope its 10
