Default Sportster turn signals

I have a 2001 1200c. My turn signals seem to turn themselves off very quickly... sometimes before I even begin my turn.

I feel I must wait until the last moment to use them. When used at the last moment, they DO function properly and self cancel AFTER the turn is completed.

The turn signals on my '05 dyna seem to stay on much longer and ONLY turn off when the turn is complete.

Can my sportster's turn signals be adjusted? Like you can adjust how many rings on your phone before your voicemail comes on...

Is this a function of dyna vs sportster?

Or a function of 2001 vs 2005 technology?

Thanks.

That is a good question, it is my understanding it is a sensor and as far as I'm aware there is no adjustment on the sensor.

I think what your describing is a delay- so after the sensor sends the signal to quit the delay postpones the signal for a few seconds.

I personally like the shutoff to happen quick just in case I need to make another fast turn in the opposite direction.

The problem is when I use the turn signals as I approach a left turn and look down only to see that the signals have shut off. Then I realize I have been sitting in the middle of the road waiting for traffic to clear with no turn signal on. Hmmm... what are the people behind me thinking?

Well then you might want to have it checked, on mine it only shuts off after the bike leans far enough for a turn not a lane change, I have to manually turn it off for lane changes. Your senor may need to be replaced?

Like I said, maybe it's a function of 2001 technology. Yours is a 2013. Probably not the same sensor. I will get it checked though...
