I just got back on a car tire and I couldn't be happier. I don't think they look as good as a MT, but I don't care too much about looks. My main concerns are in this order,
1, Ride quality
2. handling
3. traction
4. Looks

As far as I'm concerned, you don't know what your talking about.

I hot rod in the mountains and manuvering uneven twisties and on a flat tire would be nutz.
One side of the road is 1000 ft drop and the other side is a wall of rock. Car tires look cool but staying on the road is cooler.

I'm with you on that point. Motorcycle tires aren't cheap and last a fraction of what car tires do. I could care less about looks when it comes to tires. I like the fact that I can buy a rear tire for way less than a motorcycle tire and it will last 50,000 or more miles. In that same mileage I would have probably gone through six motorcycle tires.

I am fixing to swap over to the dark side. I ride a 73 ironhead and I think it will work out just fine. After reading all the pro's and con's I think it will be right for me and my style of riding. I putt along until I have to stomp some a$$ in a traffic light race.

Rigid or swing arm? I don't know if I can find a tire to fit my 73 Ironhead and clear every thing. Hadn't even thought about it even though I ran one on an Ultra. Why not my Ironhead.
Post the size you come up with if it is an 18", or are you running a 15?

Hi Guys
I read some posts regarding going to dark side, I have 2 bikes, one is a suzuki M50 that I end up to install a pirelli night dragon 200 (original size is 180) and also I have 79 iron head that I make sort of modification from it's stock look, however the tires on this bike looks so skinny I was looking for something thicker and with more aggressive look, when I was assembling this bike I put the 180 tire that I took from my suzuki to check how it's look, was awesome but that tire is too big I guess and suzuki is 15 and my harley is 16 (rear). My question is have someone out there that went to the dark side (car tire) with HD 79 sportster 1000 XLS ? Which tire did you use ? If some one used a bigger motorcycle tire which size will fit without rubbing ? (140 or 150) stock one is 130.
Thanks in advance

As you guys can see the 180 tire looks much better, however it's the wrong size, my guess is that 140 from pirelli or michelin would be just fine, but confirming with someone who had it done might be a time and money saver.
