Default SE Super Tuner Pro connection

Ok, I can't figure this out. I am a computer geek but....

Dealer did the install and dyno for my 08 ultra. 103, SE 255 cam, V&H slip ons.

It has been running what I feel is rich. Popping a lot on decel. Lots of power but it really seems rich. I wanted to hook it up to my computer to see what the settings are.
got the cables. downloaded the software, hook it up to bike according to instructions and it doesn't show connection. Am I connecting it wrong. My understanding was the connection port for the bike was under left side cover by fuse box. Is that not right? I don't know what I am doing wrong.

well it looks like it might be my laptop. was recently upgraded to windows 10 and it won't load the drivers for the SERT. Gonna have to try my Win 7 work laptop I guess.

I run windows 10 on my laptop with no issues. It won't communicate with the bike unless the ignition is on.

it is definitely a driver problem. I can see it in device manager but no drivers installed. Seems that this was a fairly common issue even in Win 7.

Ok. Sorry, can't help with the computer stuff, I guess I just got lucky that mine worked straight up. Good luck!

Have you tried to run updates and updates for the VCI?

I did. I found a thread that talked about how to manually extract the drivers during installation and then add them later. I will be trying that tonight on my Win 7 machine. The software does not list compatibility for Windows 10 so I didn't think it would work with the other computer but I tried it anyway.

That's unfortunate. Let us know how you get it going if you find a fix. When I connected to my win 10 laptop, it recognized it immediately once I turned the ignition on.

Really?

I wonder if I should try reinstalling the software then. I installed it when the laptop was still Win7 but then someone in the family clicked ok to the Win 10 upgrade and this is the first I have tried it since the upgrade.

Maybe if I reinstall it will be ok. I will probably try both because I am a geek and I want to know.

It's definitely worth a shot. Does your super tuner light come on at all when you have it hooked to the bike and turn the ignition on?
