"I just ordered a Power Commander 5 in hopes that will help me out down the road. but for now I need to get it running with this digital fuel pack, enough so I can ride it."
Why not just make the decision to get a flash tuner (recalibrate the ECM in lieu of another bandaide system) so you retain the O2 sensors to keep your bike in tune with all the different fuel formulae we deal with across the states, cities, and counties?
Don't cut off a good part of what the ECM can do simply because it appears to be a plug and play system.
There should be a plethora of 551 calibrations to pick from so you should be real close to begin with and with a proper tuner you can dial in the rest without much more knowledge that in takes to make changes to a power commander.
Cheap fixes and add-on boxes rarely make for good long term decisions and run quality as compared to a properly tuned bike without the latency generated from a power commander or any add-on device.
Just my opinion from years of tuning these bikes,
Bob
Thanks Ultra. While I was waiting for a response from you I went out and simply added the adjustments you told me to do, to the ones that V&H told me to do. with 45, 46, and 47 at 50 it improved a lot, but was still running a bit rough, and small poping sounds, so I figured why not try 45 on all three places. That really smoothed things out. Still sound like it is missing a bit, but the poping is all but gone. So we are making progress.
I set everything back to original and then entered your number only. Seems to run worse, but not as bad as it was with the full original numbers. Now it sounds like it is missing throughout the range. RPM si moving about 200 RPM, and you can here it missing.. Pop is fully gone now.
the thing I hate about this device is the disconnecting of the o2 sensors. IMO these are crucial in allowing your HD ECM to determine where your device is off and adjust itself.
yea I was wondering this myself, how would it have any idea what the A/F ratio is doing, without some sort of probe to sample.? Can the PC-5 use wide band probes, or the originals? I have all 4 bungs for both wide band, and narrow band sensors I'll need to wait until it cools off some before riding it.. It is 104 right now..
