Default Unmarry Tuners?

Is it possible to get a used tuner and unmarry it from the previous bike? I see a ton of them for sale "used" and was wondering how one could use them.

Depends greatly on the product. The only tuning products that marry to the specific bike are ECU flash tuners, some of which can be unlocked or relicensed for use on another vehicle. Piggyback and standalone products such as Power Commander and Thundermax can be moved bike to bike provided they are the correct part number however there are an assortment of fitments among the products based on application.

So, are those stand alones and piggy backs flashable also? I mean, I have a custom built engine that I know a little about (was installed when I got the bike) so I would need something I could tweak and change if I make hardware changes. The previous owner doesn't know, either, just told me a retired Harley tech built the engine with all Screamin Eagle parts, ported heads, etc. and put a tune in it to match. I may want to quiet the exhaust soon so I would need to change software, I would imagine.

Harley Pro Super Tuners (maybe Pro Street Tuners as well) can be "un-married" by a few guys who advertise on eBay.

Cost is around $130 IIRC

I am still unclear as to what I need to be able to manipulate the A/F and ignition timing of my bike. Tuning bikes is all new to me since my last bike was a 73. I bought this bike used with a newly built engine that has SE ported heads, 2 into 1 exhaust, high performance cams, high flow intake. The only I.D. I can find on my ECM is near the bottom and says Delco. What tuner will program this unit?

Here are a few pics of my ECM. Am I to assume that Delphi is Delco?

I would suggest, if you can afford to, buy a vision new. Buying a used tuner can be problematic. The first being that it could be damaged/abused, even if the outside looks good. The most important things are that the firmware is up to date, the correct cable, and a map to match your engine. If your dealer built the engine, they probably have a repair order somewhere with a parts list, cam timing for a map is important. Give FM a call, they have outstanding customer service, and lifetime help if you by from them.

TTS , PowerVision, Screaming Eagle Race Tuner (no longer sold), Power Commander. With your mods, I’d recommend the TTS or PowerVision.
Dont attempt to buy a used unit (unless it’s a Power Commander)
