I'm just guessing here but it sounds like maybe they assumed that when the truck turned on his left signal that he was signaling for them to pass. Maybe there is a lesson here for all of us.

RIP Bruce Rossmeyer
not making light of the situation ...but assumption is the mother of all f**k ups....and yes a lesson to live by (literally) NEVER assume another driver is even aware of you or your bike...
Doesn't matter to me how it happened. It is a big loss not only for his friends and family but to the business community here, the biker community and all the children he helped with his charities. He was a HUGE part of the community here and things will never be the same without him.

I was at the unvieling party for the 2010's last night at HD in Sunrise. Had a lonnng talk with Bill the GM. He and Rossmeyer were friends. He told me and my wife that Thursday after the news, he headed up to Lake Okkeechobee and drove around it all night long into the early morning hours. Then did 125 mph down 27 in the dark coming home. I started to say something to him about those speeds after riding all night but he reminded me he used to race motorcycles.
As we were leaving my wife gave him a hug and I thought he was going to lose it. I have seen how tough it is for these guys.
Just an assumption, but I would guess that the dealerships will sponser a memorial ride in Bruce's honor.
I was at the dealership in DAB yesterday. the girl at the front desk said there was something planned for Monday then the funeral later in the week. But, she all thought the best source of info would come from official details released in the internet.

Bill, the GM of Sunrise, told me when the dust settles they will organize a memorial ride (I'm assuming combined with the local dealerships) in Bruce's honor. It will be a Sunday and they will "more than likely close the dealerships for the day". He siad they would announce it by email.
On a related note, 3 corporations (JM Family car dealerships one of them, forget the other 2), offered up the use of their private jets to help move people around the country to get to the funeral.
