Bill, congrats,I see nobody mention this so I have to be the one to warn you now, take a seat......., the shcool system here in Fla has put one of our members out of action for months. According to reports from the WIA himself "the dam kids run like Gazells and jump like Leopards", they are little bastards that only grow into bigger bastards as the go up each grade. The crew consensus was that he should have used his taser, I suggest you get the biggest taser with the longest range and highest power charge you can find, also get a back up taser for the ankle holster.
We usually dont warn new arrivals to our state not to take a job at the school and especailly a job as a teacher as we need someone to teach the kids, please be careful out there, also might consider a bullet proof wind screen for your bike.
Oh stay away fom teh cafeteria pizza.
He said he was teaching "special needs" buggers.....not driving a school bus! LOL
(This crew is as close as I ever got to people with special needs......where IS sick puppy?)
Congratlations Bill !!! Good luck driving I-95 twice a day thru Jax, where the rush hour lasts for over 2 hours. Hopefully your commute will be during least of the rush.
In the morning it should be OK, since I'll likely be driving around 5:30 or 6 in the morning. but the afternoons are always HELL around here. I used to drive from Argyle to Mayport when I was on the Kennedy, BEFORE 9A opened. Did that for 3 years. Then drove form Exit 323 in I-95 to NAS Jax for 3 years after that.
I'll likely get off of 9A at US-1/Philips and take that south to St. Aug the back way.
Either way I go, it's still about 35 or so miles of idiots to have to deal with out there. Bill

Chuck The mensh
LOL
Yeah, hopefully I still won't need a TASER!
These are 14-17 year old 9th graders!
No, that was NOT a misspelling.
I've been dealing with 18-21 year olds acting like 12 year olds for years now. So dealing with these students will hopefully not be a whole lot different.

And again.....WELCOME TO THE FLORIDA CREW"...(we can use your skills)
Each time I read this thread it reminds me of when my wife used to teach. She went to school for elementary education. She had to do substitute teacing to break into a school system. She was filling in for a week at one particular school. This was around the time after the OJ / Nicole trial. Some kid (6th grade) was acting up. She told him (after many warnings) to go to the principal's office. As he was leaving the room, he walked up to her and said "Watch your back... I'm gonna pull an OJ on you.". That ended her teaching career. She went into finance soon after.
These kids have their moments- but for the most part they are an uncontrollable pain in the a$$ !
Lazy, foul mouthed, used to having their successes given to them .
Had one on Monday come up behind me while I was at the board and almost busted me on the back of the head with his fist! He and 5 others are suspended already suspended. Likely will have about half of them by the end of the year.
However when I can get those 10 or so minutes a year to actually TEACH it's great!
Starting to rethink my decision to do this - but I have to work!!!
The drive is about 40 miles one way! Bike sure will come in handy.

Someone should have "ended his career" for that comment. I always applaud when a teacher nails some little a$$hat. May not be legal, but it just makes me smile. The gene pool needs a little cleaning out on a frequent basis. Sorry it messed up your wife's career.
