My wife is still considered a "new" rider. We have her on a Kawasaki Vulcan 500. She loves it and it has plenty of pep for almost any adult. I have ridden it quite a few times and it is quite a difference from my Street Glide.
Your thinking is perfect from your first thread. You don't want a bad experience with a 700+ pound beast. No matter what you ride, the main thing is ya gotta ride!
No class or video will get you there as well as simply getting the miles clocked on the odometer will. The class and assorted videos are wonderful for forming good habits and learning key points. But little beats those miles of wind, a little rain, tar snakes, and some sand in the corners to get you acclimated to riding. Take it all in and never stop thinking about your skill set. You will know when it is time to get the next bike.
I would like to talk about a trade for that old Shovel.
I have been wanting a barhopper and a shovel. I don't mind having to do a little work to get it going.
