That machine is a CPAP. It's a positive pressure mask that forces air into the lungs upon inhalation of the person wearing it. If they put her back on the mask then she has fluid building up again. She should be receiving Lasix to aid in draining the fluid, it's a diuretic, and sometimes in severe cases small doses of Morphine, which although is a pain med, also has the "side effect" if you will of being a diuretic as well. This is all standard procedure for the fluid build up, and we even do this out in the field in the back of the rescue trucks.
