I can read between the lines when it comes to rules and regulation as I have quite of bit expereince dealing w the Fed /Dot standards. With that said the AHH or Composite Craft looks pretty close to what I want, that is until I looked at the price 130.00+ for an unapproved DOT. Come on guys regardless of the R&D if the certification is not there how can you justify that price. Being the devils avicate here please explain.
I think that it is the Carbonfiber/Kevlar coupled with the fact that they are a relatively small operation that hand craft them one at a time is the reason that the Head trips cost what they do, They spend a lot of time fabricating these things and the help has to be paid. They are not spitting these things out of a machine 100 at a time and they are fairly labor intensive. I went to their little plant and bought mine and they are working in maybe 5,000 square ft, if that, so it is not a huge automated factory. All the workers have their little area's set up and work on one helmet at a time. I am not familiar with AHH helmets, Do you mean ACC? That was the company's name before they got shut down by the law suit. Composite Craft is the new company name but its the same with a new name is all. These are not the skid lids that you see at the bike rally's for $20.00. These are serious, lightweight, comfortable to wear helmets. I can not justify the price other than to say that in comparison to a $50.00 Daytona Carbon Fiber in your left hand and a $130.00 Headtrip in your right, that there is in fact, no comparison. Kinda looking the same is where it stops. One would think that I have interest in the company but I don't. I just really like their helmets and I am a guy that rode for years and years without a helmet at all so for me to be comfortable wearing a helmet says a lot. Good luck with your upcoming purchase and I hope that you find something that you love. It is so hard to decide on a helmet unless you can put your hands on it so just hop on the scooter and ride on down to Orlando and check them out.

I've got one as well. I couldn't get it to fit right with the different foam inserts so I took them out along with the Velcro that holds it in place and now wear a $2 beanie hat from walmart under it. Fits great & no itching

Thanks for that info Dave. Which helmet do you ride with I'm looking at the extended half, does anyone know if the helmets they are building now are of the same quality as the last version before being shut down or is there a newer improved version.

I'm glad to see they're selling them again. I'm on my second one and just about everyone I ride with has one.

As for DOT or not it's all crap. Did a paper on helmet safety tests a few years back and was amazed at what I found out and what was impossible to get a straight answer about.
