Welcome to the Florida Crew. I don't think you will get any grief around here about what you ride just that you ride. Your wife will also be welcome. I think the Vstar 650 is a great bike. I plan to ride one to work tomorrow myself. If you're every up toward Fort Pierce or want to ride the Indian River Lagoon Loop give me a shout.
