Keep it going Greg! Way to go! I did a stage 1 download to the ECM, and did the Reinharts slip-ons. Did this at the dealer the day I purchased my SG. I NEVER heard my bike with stock pipes. My odometer had something like 1.1 miles on it when it went straight to Stage 1 with slip-ons.

Rock on. Can't wait to see what ya do. Those 4" slash-ups look pretty sweet too! Seems a lot of folks are heading towards the 4" mufflers now. See them up here a lot too!

Lose the cat(alytic) any way you want. By cat-stration(removal) or new pipes and get a good tune. I prefer TTS Mastertune at Doc's in Mineola, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Just enjoy that new blue ride.

We most likely did cross paths somewhere along the route! No worries... I'm sure we'll meet up on the road one of these days. Hopefully Irene will leave us be and I'll be able to get some more miles on 'er this weekend...

I always have a hard time with decisions until it's right down to the wire!
I went with Pythons on my 08 EGS to start with and got an improved sound and a little better performance .. Later on when budget was more affordable went with V&H True dual headers .. Was going to switch to V&H MO later on but the Pythons ran & sounded so good just left it be ..

That's good feedback on the Pythons, Jay... thanks! Havin' not actually heard any, that I know of, and just goin' by reviews on the seller's sites, I was a bit stand offish about them except for the price. Gettin' a decent review from a Crew member goes a lot further for me. I'm also doing some research on the Bubs for a full system. Haven't had any personal experience with them, but at least have heard them plenty and like the tone of 'em. It really boils down to what's left to play with after payin' off the Heritage. So I'm keepin' options open in both directions.

BlueDragon. I'm thinking the same as you. I'm running stock and I keep looking back to see if the thing is still running. I've had V&H and they are top quality and loud but I love the sound they make. I'm getting older and want to keep the neighbors happy when I pull out at 3am for an early ride. My ears can't do the loud anymore so I was looking for something just right. Mybe we should go shopping together. Looking under someone else's bike you need 2 people. Gotta have a lookout!
Keep putting those miles on it! Great looking bike!

Glad to see you getting some miles on her Greg.

As far as the Bub's so, I had the Bub 7's on my SG. When the pipes arrived new, the chrome was peeling off front head pipe. Called Bub and they said it really did not matter and reluctantly exchanged them, at my expense.

As far as fitment goes, the front pipe fit good, but the rear pipe was a pain in the butt to get right.

Appearance was good, until the chrome on the end caps started peeling off.

They did sound good. A bit loud for the long haul, but YMMV. I had to use ear plugs with my small helmet.

Performance would most likely be good on a stock 96. On my 103 with cam & head work they held it back big time. With a slightly different cam and a set of Fat Cats it made 11 more HP.

Good luck in your hunt for exhaust.

My head pipe cracked on the Bub 7,this after the main collector bracket broke twice and the L bracket broke once. Ended where I should have started with a Fatcat. Close second would be the VH Propipe, very similar tq hp curve profile and performance, les $ too. Cam would be woods 555 or andrews 54 or HQ 575. Zippers AC, leave the rest alone.

Hey lets build Gregs new bike hehehe

Well damn! Thanks for the heads up on the Bubs system. It is the Bub 8, with the cross over, I was lookin' at too! With two of ya sayin how they went bad, and had to be replaced at your expense, I don't think I'll be givin' them my pennies. Guess I should just stick with what has worked for me in the past... V&H. Like FLHPRK, I was really lookin for something not quite as obnoxious as the V&Hs this time around... which takes me back to the Python's. Although I've yet to try the 'quiet baffles' in the V&H systems. I understand they do quiet them down pretty good without loosing to much of their grumble.
