Default St Augustine Information?

Whats up Florida Crew...

Looking for any information on stuff in St Augustine... seashore parks w walking areas? ...restaurants? ...places with good tap beers? ...anything you got for us!

We are planning on taking a little day trip up the coast from Daytona Bikeweek this year to stop at that Fountain of Youth park in St Augustine. I think the OL thinks I need revitalization but I say I just need more good tap beer. Looking to kill the day with other stuff.

Thanks in advance for anything you can tell me.

JD

Plenty to do in one day, stay in the old town area, there is a microbrewery alA Ale Works on King St. that serves up some fine food and beer, Anastasia Beach State Park, the Lighthouse. Many good places. For the best seafood, go to O'steens, for an early dinner or late lunch and prepare to wait at least 45 minutes to an hour. Enjoy, one day will keep you plenty busy.

If you like to drink out of an old cesspool filled with algae and pay to drink it have at the fountain of youth. There is a guide service that dresses up like a old pilgrim looking guy. He will take you on a foot tour of the town for an hour or so and show you some good pubs and tell you the whole history of St. Augustine. It is a real cool thing.

Only thing is, if the fountain of youth works you will have a couple YOUNGER women who won't want anything to do with a couple old ***, worn out bikers!! Be careful!

The Pirate Museum is pretty cool. They moved a bunch of it up from Key West and it is really well done inside. I love it up there. http://www.piratesoul.com/
If you are gonna stay overnight I would recommend one of the walking ghost tours. Very informative on history.

JD,
St. Augie is a cool place to spend one day, or a couple of days. Plan on doing alot of walking, but it's the best way to get around. There are great photo ops everywhere, so keep your camera handy. I'll show you what I mean...

Here's the view from the top of the lighthouse. But I must tell you, there is NO elevator, so you gotta hoof it.

BIG GUNS are always good photo ops, and St Augie has cannons galore!!!

JD, Have fun, but personally, I would skip the fountain of youth. There is NO fountain, and that is some NASTY SULFUR WATER they are serving up.
Go to the "Milltop Tavern", on St. George street. Good Vibes!!!

For a llittle history, go to the fort. You gotta be there when they shoot the cannon!
If'n ya really like loud booms, be at the seawall when they shoot that thing! When you are behind the cannon it is vewry loud and the echo from across the water is loud also....
