Biketoberfest Camping
I've done the searches and now I'll ask...what happened to all the campgrounds in Daytona for Biketoberfest / Bikeweek? I remember one just north of Destination Daytona and one about a mile south of Destination Daytona but before you get to Iron Horse (it was on the east side of HWY 1).
I want to try the whole motorcycle-camping-thingy once in my life. I'm not sure if the wife's sold on the idea, but it's one of the few things left on my bucket list.
So...somewhere close (aka stumbling distance) to the sights but nice enough to allow BBQs grills, small cook fires, and a few beers without burnout pits/drunken drag racing, porta-potty fires (used to camp at Rockingham NASCAR races), and crazy, all-night parties.
Thanks (in advance)

Not sure about the others, but that place right next Destination Daytona is "seasonal", meaning they are only open during BikeWeek and Biketoberfest.
Yes, "Thunder Gulch" would be my recommendation. They are open year-round, decent food on site, a VFW (walking distance) right next door (cheap beer/liquor), and easy enough of a reach to all things "Daytona" when the events start. They are a (more) professional camping place, vs. all the things you describe about camping gone wild (at the other place). They are along U.S. Route 1, I think the area is still considered Bunnell (vs. Palm Coast). Oh yea.... two different "Indy" places across the street if needed.
If you go to Thunder Gulch, ask about the Camp's full-grown German Shepard (belongs to the owners who tend bar). I forget the dog's name, but they have a serious rail-mounted sling shot that will shoot a tennis ball 100 yards. The dog chases that ball and will grab it on second bounce most of the time. Fun to watch and fun to try to out-wit him (after a few beers of course). Warning..... do not take the ball out of the dog's mouth....wait for him to drop it. I know this very well. Been many years before when I last had a German Sheppard at full growl. Heeeeee heeeeee heeee.
Thanks. I'll check these out.
