Default Battery replacement

It's time....

Do y'all go with the HD brand, or something different?

I stopped by Autozone and they wanted $104 for their brand.

Big Crank if you have the time to wait. I didn't, and just recently picked one up at Batteries Plus.

Went with the Deka ETX-30L for the 03 EG. Big bore kit with Andrews cams and PCIII. Two years later it's still working great, even in the brutal Vegas heat. Got the battery from Bohannon Battery.

Just my 2 cents worth...

Truthfully, a company called Johnson Controls makes around 80% of the batteries on the market today. They make interstate, diehard, motor craft, AC Delco, Duralast and many others. The only real difference is price and warranty. Get the right size and best price/warranty that works for you. Unless you buy one from China, that comes in a cardboard box and you have to add the acid yourself, it was probably made by Johnson Controls.

I replaced my battery (1998 road king fuel injected) with a sealed AGM battery from Advanced Auto parts.
I used an easy to find online coupon code (something like p20) and then went to the store for pick-up with my old battery in hand (core charge).
My old battery and new battery were identical in box size/shape.
The out the door price was under $120.
Take your old battery to the shop because some after market batteries require a plate/stand that is included in order to fit correctly.
I do not like to use a plate.
Mine did not require the plate /stand and i was able to compare my old battery to the new one at the counter in case purchase needed to be cancelled.
I have now done two bikes with the Advanced Auto parts battery.
Both bikes (Dyna & Road King) did require a goldish color washer spacer (included) at the battery lugs.
On the touring bikes..removal of old battery is easier if you screw old lug bolts into the top of (+) ( -) posts and then tie a non conductive string /zip tie/rope (old leather belt works well) to those posts and pull up.
I was going to order online but i wanted to "see" the battery first and in my case the difference in price was less than $20.
