Default Riding With Ear Plugs

Motorcycling and the noise that comes with it (both engine and wind noise) easily damages your hearing, PERMANENTLY!

I was wondering how many riders use ear plugs and how often do they use them. I hope most riders use hearing protection every time they ride but let's find out.

Please answer the following poll question:
I wear ear plugs when riding

A. Never

B. Only on longer rides

C. Whenever I remember

D. Always

I don't know about that first line statement accuracy. Wind noise and exhaust noise has had no effect on my hearing. Been riding loud bikes lil over 30 years.

I also did 4 years flying in the marines ch 46 helicopters. 2 twin GE T-58 jet engines and 6 loud *** blades going all god dam day flying long *** hours for years.....no I'll effects.

So when I see these threads about wind noise and exhaust noise from motorcycles being a concern I'm not just talking out my butt. I hear fine. Maybe it's just the shape of my ears or whatever....I don't know.

Now I do have a bad right hip and a few other body parts not like they were 20 years ago but my hearing is fine.

I always wear ear protection. My ears kill me 10 minutes in if I dont because of the wind noise. Maybe its the shape of my ears but damn its loud without plugs.

I was told the wind noise can cause permanently so I tried it and absolutely hated it. Now I'm just use to it.. the wind I mean.

I wear a full face helmet most times. Its done a lot to kill wind noise. If I go on a long trip then I use plugs along with the ff. I find I'm less fatigued at the end of the day.
Funny thing is I used to ride all the time without a helmet now I don't leave home without it. Makes long hauls more enjoyable.

pretty much always wear them when i hit the highway. it takes away almost all of the wind noise, and yet i still get to hear the deep tones of my exhaust. certainly keeps me happier on the long hauls, the noise of the wind is much harder on the ears than the noise of the pipes
