I figure the down pointing wave is for bad-azz wanna-be's who do not want to be caught waving. So if there is no return wave or they get caught by the "real biker' police, they can always rationalize and say "I was just stretching".

I don't wave as much as I used to. Prefer to look where I am going on multiple lane roads. On 2 lanes still wave. When we ride 2 up my wife does the waving, and I notice I get a much better rate of responses. I have no clue how she waves though.
