Yes when it can safely be done.
I've seen some dangerous moves by people waving in curves. When they come into your lane attempting a wave, it kind of loses it's purpose.

Out of habit, I waved at a motorcycle cop a couple weeks back. About a mile down the road, I see this same cop right on my ****. The ***** tailgatges me for a while, then a cruiser gets behind him. Now this wiseass gets along side me, gives me the up and down stare then twists on it and leaves me with the other cop on my back fender. A few miles down the road, he pulls off and turns around.

I guess the moral of my story is be careful who you wave to.

I just rode from Sth Carolina to LA and anecdotally, I'd say 3 out of 4 wave. I do. I think it contributes to the biker brotherhood that seems to be lacking in Oz. We can't really wave because we drive on the other side of the road and to take your right hand off the throttle to wave seems to slow the bike down. Took me a few days to work that out.

That's interesting. Do they regularly wave in the UK?

Interesting,I did the same out of habit a couple of years ago.As soon as I did it I kinda surprised myself.

He waved back !

After that I made it a point to "wave" to cops who were riding or a more subtle raising a few fingers off the grip if they were in a car.
More times than not they all wave back.

Maybe it's just more friendly in Texas.

Yes I have never had an issue waving to a officer here in ND. Were you waving with at least two fingers???
