I've always said that it you buy cheap stuff, ya got cheap stuff but still that seems like a lot of money for leather gloves.
I'm not that good of a mechanic as to be able to do the build myself. I have friend who is though, and he will do it when I get all the parts together. I don't have a lot of cash flow since I retired from cattle farming and have to kind of get it a piece at a time until I have everything.
So far I have the 88 cylinders, that are being bored out now, paid for and Lou sent me a set of heads that will cost me $250 to get ported.
Next, I will get the cams and pistons and then go for it!
I'm keeping all the stock parts just in case I may need them in the future.
Right, cheap stuff is cheap. But there's a limit on spending for quality stuff too.
Always thought that song was hilarious! Hopefully it won't take quite that long. I probably won't have it done before I head west, but maybe by the fall...
It was an 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99 Ultra classic!
That sounds like the 280Z I built with the V8....various parts from various years from Datsun, Chevy , Nissan, Toyota truck,Audi, Ford.Mitsubishi and others that I forgot....OH and from a YUGO!!!
Reminds me of a 1989 Chevy S-10 pickup I had just a few years ago as a commuter vehicle. I could (and did) use parts form the Blazer and S-10's as well as their GMC cousins, but the 2.8 L V6 was in a alot more cars and trucks so I could get those parts from virtually anything. That was an ugly *** truck, all beat to hell but with that little V6, light body, 2WD and a 5 speed that thing would freakin scoot! And it got about 26 MPG after a $75 tune up
