If I knew then what I know now, I'd probably have stayed there listening to him until he had to go home.

Here's what is said of the 442:

"The 442nd Regimental Combat Team was the most decorated unit for its size and length of service in the history of American warfare. The 4,000 men who initially came in April 1943 had to be replaced nearly 2.5 times. In total, about 14,000 men served, earning 9,486 Purple Hearts. The unit was awarded eight Presidential Unit Citations (5 earned in one month). Twenty-one of its members were awarded Medals of Honor. Members of the 442nd received 18,143 awards."

I would have liked to talk to that fellow for a while

Sounds like what we used to hear was, as usual, a mix of fact and urban legend.

I'm curious how many of those Medals were awarded much later, like Inouye's.

I remember seeing the movie "Hell to Eternity" as a youngster, and "Go For Broke" years later. Good stuff on Nisei and the Four-Four-Deuce.

I get regular emails, ads, and links to the local Harley dealership's web site and FB pages. The most used word in all of their advertising appears to be "badass."

Which means...nope. Even worse, they misspell it.

One of the regulars here, and I apologize because I don't remember who it is, has a sig line that says: "Everybody is a tough guy, until they meet one."

Love it.
