Hi index, (thin lens) name brand progressive (quality ones have more and smaller increments) transition (get dark in the sun light)
Some day like me, you can spend the big bucks ($30,000) for new progressive, toric, lens plus lazer surgery when they do the cataracts. (Wife's). Mine were $25,000. They did mine by having a near and far eye. They didn't make a progressive that covered my astigmatism in one eye.
It is my understanding that once you do replacement lens, Lastic won't hold do to the plastic lens.
Mine have a sun's ray protection called blue. There clear of course but have barbs and are toric to correct for astigmatism. The progressive added 10K to the lens.
Medicare only pays for non corrective lens .
Still need the shades or protective glasses.

I have "foam" riding sunglasses and night glasses I picked up at Daytona. 2.5 readers in the bottom, clear on the top. I can see distance just fine, but was having issues reading gauges and GPS. Solved my problem. I have safety glasses the same way for the job site, lets me read plans or my phone, but clear up top for walking around. Worthy upgrade.
kind a the same thing. I have dewalt safety glasses with the reading lens on bottom. Both clear and dark tint
everyday.... I found this place (America Best) that had "sports glasses" (they don't any more) I got 2 pairs, 1 clear, and 1 sunglasses. Prescription bi-focals
I have one pair in my tour pack, and wear the other pair
I have progressive bi-focals for everyday use. I have pynoptyx riding lasses with an Rx for regular vision correction, non bi-focal. The lenses are transitional for both day and night time running.
I had an optometrist appointment and consult yesterday for laser correction. The doctor talked to me about a lot of different things, but something stood out and I thought worthy of sharing:
She was saying there are eye drops that can soften (it gets hard as we age) the lens in the eye making near sighted vision possible without glasses. Might be something to ask about?
You can get multi focal contacts. There are two companies now that make multifocal lenses for astigmatism also(Cooper and B&L).
Im an optometrist. I rarely wear CLs. Best vision, where you can see properly at all distances, is with progressive addition spectacle lenses.
If you tried a PAL and didnt like it there can be many reasons. Wrong material, wrong fitting, wrong Rx, many different designs. Try again. Go to a practice that guarantees satisfaction. If you have normal binocular vision something should work.
