Default fat boy wheels

as you know the stock wheels on the older fatboys are solid
and you can feel the wind play hell on the front end at times,
the newer fatboys have them holes drilled in the wheels.
does this help w/wind or air movement? seems like it would make sense,
others tell me "makes no difference"
what say you all??

I think it is a total myth, I have been in some serious cross winds and have had no harder time than anybody else has. Think about it, the cross section of the center of the wheel is actually very small. Bikes with trunks on them have a lot more cross section and you never hear about them getting blown around. On top of that think of spokes moving fast, I seriously doubt they let much wind trough. Just my .02 worth.

I have an 08 and when I drive through a crosswind, all I hear is a bunch of whistling.

Seriously, I haven't noticed any wind effect on my bike with the bullet holes in them. I think the bullet holes are just for looks.

it's a myth. any wheel (spokes, solid, solid with holes, etc) becomes a solid plane after about 35 MPH.

I owned my fatboy for several years with solid wheels prior to going to spokes for the last two years.....strong cross winds effect the bike period.....doesn't matter what wheels are on it.....I don't see a big difference.....before and after shots of my bike below.....

I disagree, my 01 fatboy has stock rims and one gust of wind will scare the sh^&% out of me
while my fellow riders have no idea what I was talking about. of coarse they are riding bikes with holes in there wheels
