Well that's mighty southern of ya!! A damn electrician for real say it ain't so, I used to be a pipefitter, worked side by side with electricians for years, had to stay ahead of them, they always seemed to run their cable trays and conduit right where my pipe was supposed to go for some reason!!!
lol, i must be a yuppy i got alot of chrome on my bike. Na wait iam just a poor factory worker and the bank bought the bike for me and the chrome all i had to do was sell them my soul for cpl years. lol....
I could care less what people think, but theres alot out there that think all us harley owners are yuppies as we pay more for most of our bikes and put even more money in them after that than most spend on there cars.
Me and a buddy were riding home through the city (unfortunately) and got cutoff by some a$$hole on a brand new ultra.... looked like he was too busy talking on his bluetooth fixed to his ear. I try not to judge but we just kinda looked at each other at that and were probably thinking the same thing. Glad I'm not the only one who's taking a while to payoff my bike. It didn't make sense to buy it but i don't care........ it's well worth it even if it is ONLY a Sporty.

I was a diesel fitter. I worked in a panty hose factory. At the end of the line I would stick the panty hose on my head and yell, Diesal Fitter!
LOL sounds like some of the people i have worked with Iam industrial maintenance with electrical background and have done it all in most places i worked welding, pipe fitting, electrical, plc etc. Love what i do always have something different everyday.

I did the same thing for 10 years, mostly electrical and plumbing, but also did lots of floor/wall/overhead door repairs, painting ect. I am thinking of going back to that kind of work.. I am class a local driver (make about the same money , but I'm getting out of shape sitting all day behind the wheel).

As I recall from a stint in business school back in the day, 'yuppie' was a marketing shorthand for 'Young Urban Professional' (YUP) ... may've been a couple of additional words in the acronym, but basically, young folks with a lot of disposable income.
The popular conception was that they were materialistic and pretentious ... favoring such 'high end' name brands like Perrier, Brooks Brothers and BMW ... sometimes viewed by the general public as elitist, snobbish and vacuous.
Not sure how that relates to bikes or Harleys specifically ...
Both of my parents grew up on farms and I came up as a poor country boy ... did my share of farm labor ... 'walking' beans, tasseling corn, putting up hay (back when they still put square bales into hay lofts) ... 'experimented' with pot in high school ... drank enough to get into a little trouble (still don't mind a snort of the good stuff) ... but learned a few lessons along the way ... I've paid some dues ... worked my way through college ...although I am an officer now, I started out as an E-1 in the Army ... seen a lot of the world literally and figuratively ....
I guess it is kind of mystifying to me what motivates some to take part in such juvenile name calling ....
I believe H-D market data shows that the average buyer is somewhere around mid-40s and makes about $80,000 .... I'm surprised your fellows didn't bandy about the term RUB (rich urban biker) ....
I don't mind the fact that some folks I see out on the road may not take it as personally as I do ... I think there are more than a few on the forum who are 'fair' weather riders ... whose idea of customizing his/her bike is buying a few parts from the dealership and bolting them on ...
Although I am a licensed professional, I don't think I fit the yuppie mold anymore due to age ....
Was kind of thinking of this thread this afternoon as I was tooling back to the house from the pier at NAVSTA Everett where my ship is moored ... quite a few riders out as we had some beautiful weather up in the Puget Sound (sunny and 72 degrees) ... it just warmed my heart to see riders zipping by giving me the 'salute' ... guys I hadn't seen out there over the past six or eight weeks when the weather was crappy ... BUT, just seeing how much enjoyment they were getting ... I figured what the f#ck ... its all good!
Sometimes I feel like a yuppie wannabe... I'd love to have sick amounts of disposable income!
I just take a "live and let live" attitude about it all. Go out and ride what you want, dress like you want, and hell... wear ear protection & even park in the garage if you want! Just ride.

Crazy Bunderbike Build Looks Amazing, But Is It Impossible to Ride?
Slideshow: The Swiss custom shop has taken a Harley Softail and stretched it into something so long and low that it looks closer to a rolling sculpture than a conventional motorcycle.
