I think that when the Trolls start threads, the Mods should strike the thread, and then ban the troll. Just like gettin' 86ed. That's the best way to take care of em'.
I don't think they ALL get banned. There's a guy on here with about 1,800 or 1,900 posts and about 90% of what I've seen him post is off topic and intentionally antagonizing. Just comments like "who gives a f*ck ". I guess that's one way to get your post count up.

This is indeed what we try to do, unless it's a metric troll that we're just having a good time making sport of. Otherwise, once a troll is identified, their posts and/or threads are yanked and they are banned. However, we cannot be everywhere all the time so do rely on the membership somewhat to let us know when we've got a troll running amok.
Having said that, there are sometimes members who toe the line pretty closely and it becomes a matter of keeping an eye on them until they either improve or finally cross that line and get the boot.
