Is it a test?
Some days...
Heading in to work this morning, and my normal fwy onramp is all chewed up for some unknown reason - about 1 week after they decided to slather it with tar and gravel and new asphalt.
Old lady decides she wants to share my lane, even after she looked right at me and my bike.
That's the first 3/4 of a mile.
Head to Subway at lunch time. I smell burning rubber, and I know what that means... get over just as the car next to me loses a tire. 3 seconds later I have to dodge about 1/2 sheet of plywood in my lane.
Coming back from Subway in the other direction, Johnny Lawyer in his silver Jag decides to cut in front of me as I'm revved out in 1st gear and leaned over turning into traffic.
2 miles down the road, after passing the two people doing 52mph in a 65 blocking both lanes, I have to dodge two road gators and a coiled up garden hose.

Holy crap. That'd make a great movie. I'll have the first draft of the script on your desk by Monday morning. All I want is points on the backend.
Seriously, I recently had a 2-month stretch with NO problems from traffic, then POW, in one day, I had 5 close calls, one so close I had to check - and then launder and disinfect - my shorts.
So, yeah, I think it's a test, thrown out there from time to time to make sure we're paying attention.
Glad you made it out OK. Shiny side up, and all that...

Some days you ride and everything flows perfectly and the world is a beautiful place to live. Other times $hit flies at you from every direction at once. On those days when it is all coming at you, you gotta realize that it is going to be one of those days and open your eyes a little wider, turn you head a little farther, and proceed with extreme caution.
And NO, I'm not jokeing.
