I wear fingerless gloves in hot weather. For me, when I rode years ago that's what I wore so when I started riding again it was just sort of natural.

I don't give a rat's *** what anyone else thinks of what I wear when I ride... I wear what I wear for function and comfort. I remove it all when I reach my destination. In warm weather all the gear goes right into the saddlebags.

I assure you that the Village People have never made an appearance at my home.....

IMO, they look gay. kind of like wearing a fanny pack, Zubaz pants, or mullet.

Well, duh. What a stupid post. Everyone knows that you wear fingerless gloves to keep the guy's or girl's teeth from embedding them selves in your knuckles when you punch them out for making fun of your fingerless gloves and *** less chaps.

I never had any but it seems like a good idea. On really hot days, you could protect most of your hand and still be comfortable, and having the fingertips free would make it easier to manage blinkers etc. All these people worrying about whether they look cool, or gay, or whatever, really need to get a life, imo.

Not for me, but your mileage may vary
+1 on that!

We had one of the group go down because of a dog a few years ago. He was badly bruised and spend a couple of days in the hospital. He was wearing fingerless gloves and the ends of his fingers (all of them!) were pretty badly chewed, in addition to the other road rash he sustained in the accident. He was basically without the full use of his hands for several days until things healed up a bit. It wasn't pretty.

This might sound crazy but I'll go without a helmet (which I don't do either) before I'll ride without gloves. I've been down and sustained a bit of road rash before. Not as bad as the guy I mentioned above but bad enough at the time. My right glove had a crescent shaped cut all the way through the palm but my hand was untouched. If I lose a little skin on my arms or legs, it's an inconvenience but if my hands are Ok, I can still function. If I loose enough skin in the right places on my hands, I'm significantly impaired until it heals up. I mean, how many things do we do on a daily basis that "doesn't" require the use of our hands??

FWIW!
Ride Safe,
Steve R.

Agreed, if you ever go down at speed, you may wish they had fingers in them. Better to have and not need than need and not have.
