That's what I did. Got a kit on e-bay for $19 and it comes with the tools you need to switch it out.
state farm insurance will cover your phone 100 percent for around 32 dollars a year. I use cheap phones, so I do not need insurance. If you have a job that is hard on phones and use expensive ones, insurance is not a bad idea.
No need, just use it until it breaks. You will just crack it again anyway. Those things are fairly fragile.
On a related note, I am just like you. Everytime I get ahead, some catastrophe happens and I am back to square one or worse. Like, I will make a few hundred dollars on a side project, be all happy, then break something that cost about $100 more than what I made.
