To start with I didn't buy my Heritage for it's quickness or overall speed. There's a lot of other bikes to get that.
This morning I pull up to a place for breakfast. As I get off the bike I hear someone say 'nice bike. I have a '07', then follows with 'I got mine over 120MPH on I5, what you get yours to?'
I think the Heritage can pull that but don't know for sure. I couldn't call BS on him because I don't have a clue how fast it will go. But for grins as I passed him I said ''pfft, talk to me when you hit 130''
Any one know for sure if it's possible to get to 120 over a long haul? And no, I'm not willing to risk my licence or freedom to find out. Been there done that.
Broke 100 on my 93, but she didn't have much left (maybe 110), not sure how fast new one's go. If it has a 6 speed I would think it's possible unless there is a rev limiter or something like that.
Had my Dyna up to 100 for about 3 miles on 15 coming into Vegas. Five minutes later it barf oil all over my legs and smoked out the highway. Don't think I'll try that again.
I have done the ton on my 103ci X Bones, and I'm sure it would do more. The real limiting factor in speed on stock Harleys is wind resistance. Above about 70 mph it really becomes a factor.
I saw a buck on my speedo and still had more to go and was pulling strong. But the speedo being off, I don't know what the real corresponding speed would have been. It seems gearing would allow for about that much for stock rev limit.
I bet I could have come close, but not in this day and age.

I'm going to give him this one, but I hope I don't hear about this guy going upside down anytime soon. Thanks for the input. I love going fast but something about the sound of something breaking at a high speed makes me appreciate being an old fart and enjoying the fact I have all the time I need to get where I'm going.
Speed limit. Done some stupid things in my younger days in cars but on my bike I look at the speed limit as the law and do not allow myself to break it unless I just need to get out of a jam and then I back off and slow down if I can. I figure it just may keep me in one piece? Who knows. At 120 it would not be pretty if a tire went or a truck had dropped a 4x4. At 55 you just may see it coming. Just glad I live around here were you can do that. Last time I went to DC made the mistake of only doing 15 over the speedlimit in the left lane getting around some campers. They pass you on the left shoulder up there if there's room.
