Sort of reminds me of a haircut I was given. 15 year old son, that'd be me. Marine Corps Capt. that'd be my old man. Living on an Army fort. Expected to look like the son of a Marine. Dad deployed for 3 months and me looking like the inner hippy I wanted to be with no hair cut for three months. Mom said you better get a haircut, sister said you better get a haircut. I knew best and knew I could handle it. Marine Capt. comes home takes one look at me and my hair half way down my ears. Gives me a dollar and said go get a haircut. Sure dad as I grin at my mom and sister. I jump on my trusty Honda 90 and ride off to the barber shop.
Hair cut had, but still touching the top of the ears and blocked in the back not tapered. Marine Capt. says I thought you were going to get a haircut. Right smartly I said I did and something else. Wrong comment. Next thing I knew my throat was in the death grip. Took me out to the car threw me in the dang trunk and slammed it shut. I swear I thought he was going to take me out in the desert and kill me. Short drive though. Trunk opens in the bright sun and the death grip on my neck returns, he drags me into the barber shop and tells the barber to give him the clippers and proceeds to shear me like a sheep.
Next day friends asked what happened. Told the truth, my dad gave me a hair cut. They knew my dad, they understood. I tried to be good in high school, not because I was a total wuss, but because I did not want to die a painful death.
