Jerky , trail mix & couple bottles water in the saddle bag if doing miles on secondaries . Old habits die hard don't know how long you'll be out there if something goes fubar .

We always save room for a small cooler with water and soda and a small bag of snack stuff when we road trip. Nice to have something when we stop here and there without having to keep buying stuff from gas stations. Except gas that is.....

heh, that's exactly what I buy each time I get some gas.
I force myself to drink something every 100 miles too. BEcause I find that I get dehydrated FAST on long trips, and before I even realize it, I'm all dehydrated and I have a headache and riding isn't as much fun.
I ride with no windshield though. I think it's the wind that just sucks the water right out of you very quickly.
