I'm going to try to salvage this thread if noboby minds. Gypsy I have some questions about your bike if you don't mind. You mentioned that you lost an arm and still ride. I'm interested in any mods you had to make to make that happen. The reason that I'm interested is that I am an Explosive Ordnance Disposal tech in the military and have a lot of friends who have lost limbs in Iraq and Afghanistan, mostly lower limbs but also arms. I've thought about this a little before my deployments but it seems to me that an arm would be the hardest injury to mod for. If you don't mind could you tell us anything you had to do to your bike? I'd like to have some information to give my friends who don't think they can ride anymore. I've been lucky myself in that I've only lost a nut so I didn't have to do anything special to my bike.

Actually, I have a fairly simple set-up. I installed an EFM Autoclutch so I don't have a clutch lever & I have a Mert Lawwill riding prosthetic. You can see that at www.mertlawwill.com
I have a buddy with NO left leg who just extended his shift lever up over the gas tank & shifts with his right hand.
If you want it bad enough, you can make it happen!
On the lighter side this guy reads like a few shooting stars that ran barking through the door and got their narrow asses handed back to them in here , I suspect one's back under a new name for round two and it ain't looking this time either ........
Thanks for the info Gypsy. That's a pretty cool setup. Did you just replace the grip or does it go inboard of the grip? You're friends solution for losing the shift leg is pretty good. Short of an automatic transmission of some kind I'm not sure what else could be done. The right leg would be fairly easy to compensate for I would think since it seems like a linked brake system activated using just the front brake lever would be the only thing required. Not cheap of course but fairly straight forward.

P.S. Thank you for your service!
Thanks for posting that. I've seen you mention your accident a couple times and wondered, but didn't want to derail the threads. Awesome looking bike!
Bet you are a big hit at parties. Does your mom know you are he making friends?
I get it, you need attention and so you come here say something stupid we all react and you get a chuckle.
Like they say simple minds are easily amused. but we both know in fact we all know that in real life you are one of those guys that goes through life staring at his shoes because you'd NEVER look another man in the eyes. You are like one of those dogs that goes through life with his tail tucked between his legs snappy at smaller dogs (maybe) then running a block away before you start barking.
So I am glad that we are here to entertain you and I am glad you have had your fun. Just as long as we both know that you are a *****.
