Mandatory Helmet Law In Utah???
An amendment to the existing helmet law has been sent for review and introduction to the Utah State Senate in the 2013 session. This change will require mandatory helmets for all motorcycle riders and passengers regardless of age. This legislation will make it mandatory to wear helmets for not only motorcycles on the road but also Type 1 all terrain vehicles including snowmobiles driven on public land.
We encourage you to contact all Utah State Senators and respectfully ask them to oppose changes to the existing bill and ask them to support your position.

We've had it both ways in Texas. Now, it's 21 and under is mandatory. Personally, I wear one now, when I didn't in the 70s. I don't know why but partially because it's cool/cold now. I might not when it's 100* this summer.

@lionsM13 - I believe most CTA like this are effective if you can get registered voters from the state itself. Rarely do those in office pay attention to non constituants.
@chickenchain. We do have a mandatory helmet law in Texas for ALL riders and passengers regardless of age. We have two forms of exemption for those over 21. Troubles me greatly that long before and every since we changed it in 2007 that so many still dont know the helmet law and IMO 90% of Texas bikers dont know the law and are noncompliant. That said I'll continue to fight in both the Senate and House over the next 3 months to protect the current law.

ABATE of UTAH is happy to announce that Senator Weiler has decided to pull his proposed mandatory helmet law for Utah.
We would like to thank the MRF, U.S. Defenders, The Confederation of Clubs and everyone else for all of their support. The phone calls and e-mails definitely made a difference. Senator Weiler has assured us that a Helmet Law bill will not be run in Utah this year; we look forward to working with the Senator in the future.
We will continue to work at keeping Utah the Motorcycle Friendly State that it is by continuing to watch for Legislation that may interfere with our right to ride free.
Once again, thank you for all of the support. We will of course return the favor when needed.
