Default Shock blew

I was on a 150 mile run from Paterson nj to cape May nj.
I took a few "oh sh$&" bumps on the journey. Maybe about 5 of them.
When we got to Cape May I hit my first red light since the journey began.
I quickly realized I had no rear brake at all.

The front brake saved my butt.
I just pulled the right bag thinking I caught air somehow in the brake line only to find the right shock shot it's load and dumped all the shock fluid right into the rear brake caliper causing me to have no rear brakes.

They are progressive 440 shocks about 4 years old.
Besides ohlins does anyone have any recommendations since I now have to buy two new shocks?

I don't have $1200 for Ohlins.

the Ohlins #2 is a great shock preload adjustment only $550 , the Ohlins #3 is a better shock he sells for around $750 preload and a sweep value for adjusting compression and rebound

I would call Progressive and have them warranty the shock.

Don't Progressive shocks have a lifetime warranty?

I would too, but doubt if I would put that brand of shock back on the bike after that catestropic failure. Glad you didn't go down or hit something because of the shock oil all over the rear end.

Go with one of the Ohlins models and don't look back.

This what I use. I went with the 13". Better handling & more ground clearance.

I want to do that But......in retro spect....I could never quite " dial in" the 440's.
They were better than the stock air shocks. They did eliminate the bottoming out and if this one didn't blow I probably wouldn't have shocks on my hit list to replace...however...as Joe said it's probably a good idea to move forward. I'll contact Howard.
