Some 05's engines came off the assy. line with the wrong valve guide seals. Pull your plugs, if they look oil fouled then you got one of the bad engines. Heads come off for the repair. My 05 was repaired under warranty by the dealer. Check with your dealer and see if your bike got the repair done. Oil check should be part of your pre-ride checks.

BTW, checked my 04 last weekend, after 2500 miles this season, and was down 1/4 quart

Lesson learned? Check your oil!! Like was mentioned, just top it off, ride & check.
