Default Engine guard differences between 2008 models and 2009-2013 models

Cruising about 50 mph last week down a back street and the next thing i know there are two large dogs coming out of a yard to chase me! The lead dog gets a good jump on me, must have heard my pipes at the stop sign up the street. I swerve to keep from hitting him with the front tire but strike his body square with the right hand side engine guard. I am estimating the dog weighs about 70 lbs and I knock him forward off his feet about 10 feet forward the bike. I am shaken but stay upright. I get back home and try to adjust my highway peg. I fidgeting with it but cant get it back right. That's when i discover the engine guard is actually bent. My question is, what is different about the guards off a 2008 than my 2010? They look very similar in pictures but the prices are much different. I do have lower farings on my Ultra and suspect this may be the difference but would like to hear from someone who knows the details.

09 was the start of the new frame. I'm gonna guess that the mounting tabs may be differs but the actual size and shape are the same since you can bolt the same lowers to each bike.

The bottom mounting of the 09 and later is much different from the 08 and earlier. As far as I know they will not interchange, at least not without much modification. Just pick up the right engine guard is the best thing.

Kutter has them for $178 for the chrome 49184-09 and $178 for the black 49050-09A. I have one that I took off my '09 when I bought it that is chrome that you could have for $100 shipped, but I want to look at it first to make sure it is in good shape. It's in AZ so I won't see it until Friday. Let me know if you want it.
