Default 07 ultra cam chest sumpted

I got the wrong o ring for the oil pump intake and didn't notice. I got about a 3/4 quart of oil out of the cam chest upon opening. Is there anything else I need to do about draining the bottom end besides what I have already done before I put the right one back on? I know the oil pump was correct due to that is not disturbed when the plate is taken off.

Once you put in the correct o-ring, you should loosen the 4 bolts attaching the oil pump to the cam plate, then tighten the cam plate. Put bike in high gear, remove spark plugs and hand rotate the rear wheel several times so the oil pump can self center to the crank pinion. Then tighten it up to the proper torque. Don't worry about any extra oil in the crankcase, it will pump back out and into the tank after start up. Once the cam plate is removed and reinstalled the pump will be in a slightly different position, necessitating a realignment.

I think 3/4 of a quart is pretty the norm for sump oil, The pick up for the return is pretty high and that remaining lubes the inner cam bearing,

Very good pictures. The reason I knew something was not right with my motor was after I put the cam chest together last weekend I tried to take it for a test ride. Got started on street and felt sluggish. Would not rev freely. Had oil pressure that seemed normal but could not get any revs out of it under load. Stop and pull clutch in revved and still seemed sluggish. I have owned this bike since new and now has 30000 on it so yes I am one with my bike and can tell if something is slightly off. Put cams in over the winter and followed the same proceedure last weekend. More oil came out this time than before when I took the cam cover off. I should have went with my gut instinct about the o ring being too small but that is what I was given at the parts counter.

I think 6-8 oz is considered "normal" on a hot engine if drained immediately after a run.
