Not sure but I just registered my bike on the website to link it to my car one and I drive through without a transponder and it just charges my car account.

Yep. Works just like it was there. Same charges with or without it.
Just an FYI...it didn't work for me. Got the violation because it didn't read... Charged me the full PA turnpike rate, not the portion that I actually used. They wouldn't budge during dispute
Some people have had luck with it in the fairing or in the saddlebag.
It didn't work for me:
First attempt was mounted under the fairing just above the headlight since a number of people reported success with that mounting point. Gate didn't go up at one of the toll booths on the Ohio turnpike--had to stop and get the ticket; it didn't read when I exited the turnpike either & I had to dig out the cash to pay.
Took it out of the fairing and mounted it in the top of the saddlebag. Still didn't work, but at least I was able to pull it out and wave it at the sensors until they acknowledged its presence.
Currently it is mounted to the backside of the glovebox door and has worked perfectly on the toll roads and tunnels around Norfolk VA. On my bike it's going to stay there. YMMV
Did you mount it with the Velcro on the lower? Going to use mine for the first time this weekend. Didn't really want to put it on the windshield especially since North Carolina's isn't water proof. I have a windshield bag if people have had luck with that I'll try it.
