Persevere--there are guys out there all the time that are ready to ride.
Since none of my family members (wife ornearby relatives) are bikers,I have had to extend my family membership to include some great guys who ride.
I am not a fan of large group rides, but I went on several HOG or other group rides, made some friends, and since that time, about a group of 5 to 6 guys I have befriended have become very good friends and will ride almost everytime I set one up.Two of my brothers own Harleys but they live in East Texas so I only get to ride with them two or three times a year.
And three of my very good riding friends have Hondas.
That's gotta suck considering they're family but you know the saying "bird of a feather flock together". Could be some animosity but I can't judge because I don't know them personally.I'm pretty sure you will find some ridin partners in that big ol' state of Texas. Sometimes it's lonely at the Mountaintop!!
where at in texas are you? i'm in west louisiana, and because of my work schedule, i have quite a bit of free time to ride, (i work ***** to the wall for 2 weeks, then 2 weeks off). i just hop on the bike and go, no real destination, just me and the breeze, and the rumble of the pipes. don't wait for them, they don't get it. just go. somewhere, anywhere. after a while, they will begin to wonder where you go, and why you got such a big grin. then they'll start tagging along just to see. but if they don't, well, just keep going, ridings for you anyway, right?
Richard, I took a look at your bike again. All I can say isdamn!! It's setup really nice. Looks Darth Vaderish and that's in a good way. Hell no need to feel bummed out, here in Chicagoland we had snow so that something to be bummed out about!!
Dude your hangin out with the wrong people. Seems strange to me. I never have a shortage of people wanting to ride, jap bike s or Harleys. Anyway, its their loss. In the wind is whats its all about.
Hey, my older and unwiser brother rides a Yamaha RSV. He even runs a newsgroup similar to this one. I joined it and then posted pictures of a my bike on that site. Lots of compliments, very little bashing but did take a lot of good natured kidding, but they are a good group of people - very much like this site.
Sounds to me like they have "Harley Envy". I've had several people say that they love to ride till they find out what I ride, then it's like "well, you won't want to ride with me, I gota ( insert bike here ). they are intimated by your bike is all. Tell them it's ok, that you won't look down on them.
they just won't understand til they ride one. I did'nt until I test rode one at a local stealer while shopping for gloves. dropped in while on my honda vtx. never even considered a hog til the street glide. took it for a test spin and I was sick to my stomache. you know. that life and philosiphy changing sickness. the sickness you get when enlightened to new truths and realities.
actually the hardest thing was calling mama to tell her that I needed this new hog I only rode 2 blocks on and had to pull over because I got it before knew what it was. I was even sicker when I had to get back on that vtx and ride home. BOY THAT WAS AN AWEFUL2 DAYS, til I got my glide! Now it just keeps me in trouble at home but its smoothing out. There would be big problems if I had to get rid of it. i'm not even joking a little bit.
