You starter going will more than likely go away after the compensator swap, mine did , but why swap a starter if it's fine? You can swap the starter without the primary cover being off. As far as inner primary bearing, it's a little more complicated that swapping it out.
Do you know if it's bad?

No I do not think it is bad since I have no symptoms. I was just thinking about changing it while I am changing compensator but it may b more than I want to do.

Yes it can be changed.. Just had mine done.. Didn't help a damn thing.. Still grinding one hot start ups

................. sounds like the starter clutch - $200 kit.

I just completed the SE compensator and Baker attitude chain adjuster yesterday. What a breeze of a job that was. I will also change the starter and what the Hell, new gaskets too. I guess if lucky I will get another 60K of maintenance free riding.
