Unless you are one hot chic with a great *** don't wear fringe on anything. Also...if you want the best chaps around get buffalo hide and make sure they are one piece with no seams or they will leak. One more thing, when you get off your bike take em off so you don't look like some poser swagering around.

These pants go on and off just like chaps, zippers up the side.
I prefer chaps, but those Fox Creek overpants look like a winner.

I got a pair of leather pants with full zippers up the outside of both legs. Easy to put on as chaps and my crotch doesn't get wet when it rains.

Chaps for sure. I like to shop the clearance section in my dealership and found a nice pair of Willie G lined chaps with the braid (no fringe) for $90! Had them hemmed at a local leather store and rode all winter with them doen to 30F. Keep my legs warm and easy on and off.
Lots of pockets too!

Hey Wolfgang: Looks like your question is a toss up according to what you like. First of all, L3ft2 asked if fringe is okay for men. Just a little background... I worked cattle pretty much all my growing up life in rugged mountain country. Chaps protected the working cowboy from brush, cold and hot branding irons, etc. Fringe (short) had a purpose, which was to provide a place for rain to drip off rather than to run down your leg and into your boot... Long fringe across the back of the belt was for show horse people. Conchos had a purpose too, which was to provide a place to support the leg snaps (before zippers).... Of course conchos also were were like "bling and chrome" to make your chaps look different than the next guy... Black leather is very hot on pants or chaps. On long trips the modern fabrics provide better extended wet weather protection and is cooler. Leather protects today from the possible road rash... armour is a step better for heavy crash protection, but armour has a "BMW" look rather than a Harley look...IMO wear something that YOU like according to the amount of protection you want and the "fashion statement" you want to make....
