I wore chaps for years. My girlfriend gave me a pair of FirstGear HT Air Overpants for Xmas and I love them.

I think it will be a rare occassion for me to wear chaps again. They're heavy, hard to walk in, always pulling my pants down, and not that warm in cold weather, hot as hell in warm weather. The pants on the other hand are lighter, easy to walk in, warmer in the cold, cooler in the hot, and easier to put on with the full length zippers on the side of the legs.

I wear the deluxe chapps from HD. The ones with the linings. Model #98091-06VM GM14444 K7683 Ive ridenin 30 degree weather without long johns or the rain suit. If you are going to do some serious riding I would invest in heated ride gear/liner to put in an all weather gear like the FXRG series. Ride safe.

Both or either depending on the weather.
Normally chaps , but waterproof overpants for the rain.
Wool blend long johns, jeans, chaps, FXRG jacket,30-40 degrees.
Jeans, leather jacket or FXRG jacket, and chaps, 40-80 degrees.
Heavy jeans, maybe chaps,Vanson mesh jacket over 80 degrees.
Leather or really good textile equipment with armour, is essential when you hit the pavement (physically).
Dress to fall off , ride to stay safe..

I bought these overpants last year and love them. I use them for commuting to work. Great quality.

I've come to the conclusion - I am not a chaps guy and I am not a doorag dude.

Just two more things I don't have to consider again. [8D]

First gear textile over pants--not the leather ones.
Lighter, more flexible, waterproof, and warmer. Just as easy to put on as chaps with full length zippers and no snide remarks about Village People.

Just watch the exhaust pipes! Even Cordura can't stand the heat.

Take a look at Leather Legs. They accomplish most of what chaps provide you and are much more comfortable to wear.
