One time a few years ago we were riding south on PCH1 and stopped for the night in Big Sur. Woke up the next morning to a thick fog. Riding on the road you could not see the ocean or much of anything else. Literally 30-50 feet. Quite an experience.

I rode the whole coast shoreline from WA to San Diego a couple of months ago, then back up through Nevada. I even rode the Lost Coast Highway (pic attached) which few dare to brave. Must Must do!
Did some part of hwy 1 the last three years ... Redwoods up and back a couple of times, big sur to San Luis the last two years, out to shelter cove, down through Mendicino. If you haven't already, try going over thru Ft Hunter Leggitt from the middle of the coast to King City.
