Now if I could only get my son to stop holding out for an Aston Martin DB9 and get a Harley...
Now I can identify with that ambition! I owned a late '70s Aston Martin V8 for a few years, the only car I ever made a profit on. My old Glide was bought on the proceeds of the sale, otherwise it would have been years before I could have bought another Harley.
I enjoy reading stories like these even though I just lost my pops on 10/1/14. We never rode together even though he did ride. I was doing the car thing but I give him the credit for getting me and my 2 brothers into riding. Us 3 ride together now and we are going to miss him. Enjoy the time together and realize it's not something we can all say we've done. God Bless!
Nice trickery on your part, kudos. My 7YO daughter loves riding with me, I hope that continues for a long time to come, you cant replace memories like that. Now if I could only get my 10YO daughter to get on the bike, she is scared of it,lol.. Maybe one day.
Great story and good on you for taking the initiative! I've been lucky enough to ride with both my father and my son on a fairly regular basis over the years. Nothing better than making memories with them. I'm in California, father in Tennessee and son in Texas... making these rides happen isn't easy but, certainly worth it!
My Dad never rode for fun. Had a dirt bike for chasing cows, but that's about it. We did have ATV's and rode a lot when he was able to. He's too old now. Those last few years he was getting a bit slow for me. Was always waiting for him to catch up at intersections. Good memories anyhow.
My 22 year old does ride. If I ask him to go riding with me, he would do it. But, I can't recall him ever asking me to go with him. And mowing the lawn for me!? WOW! That would be one of the happiest moments of my life. I really doubt it'll happen though.
That's awesome. Im sure you guys will talk about that day for years to come. I don't have a relationship with my dad ( his choice) but I love when me and my 10yr son are out riding on our quads. We get out for a few hours and have a great time. Hoping one day he wants a motorcycle of his own and we can still ride together
