What brand/size/kind of apes are those? I like em. I also note that the heated handle bars work with these? They look awesome
Thanks in advance
Thanks, They are Vindikta 1.5" thick, 12" high bagger apes. He custome makes all his bars by order in about 3 weeks. Super cool dude, very easy to deal with. http://www.vindikta.com
I used the NAMZ 8" extensions for the switch housings. TBW was plenty long enough. Heated grips was just barely long enough. If I did them over, I'd probably solder a little extra length for the heated grips but they fit and work great. It took me about 8 hrs all in to tear the thing apart, remove old bars, and fish wiring in new bars and put everything back together. That was with a lunch break and working at an easy pace. My CVO had internally wired bars so believe it or not, it took me about an hour to carefully pull out all the wiring from the old bars, so this part would be eliminated on a non CVO bike.
A word of caution, the 1.5" thick bars require a very little Dremel work to the fairing. Just about 1/8" clearancing to the bottom switch cover in a place you can't see once the bars are on.
Hey Dgdamore, did you internally wire the heated grips? If so how did this work? are the cvo heated grips different from the rest? I want to do my bars and add heated grips this winter, but all the Harley grips say not for internally wired bars.

Yes, I did internally wire the heated grips and they work fine. In fact, they were internally wired from stock on my bike.
I had them on my last bike as well, an '09 Street Glide, even though it said not for internally wired bars. I asked my service manager at the dealer why they said that and he said they would work and he was right. He said the factory will not recommend anything they haven't tested at the factory, so if they haven't wired the bars internally themselves and tested them, they listed them as "not for internally wired bars". I can tell you the Vindikta's being 1.5" are a little easier than the narrower bars. It can be done though even with the narrower bars, especially on the 2014s and later as the can-bus wiring takes up a lot less space. It all just takes A LOT of patience.
