To each his own. I like the half-chaps because of the functionality (they handle the most problematic area in regards to wind/rain/cold) and efficiency (very quick on and off). Good chaps are more expensive and take a bit more time to manage, however, they probably provide better protection.

Those things look like snake leggings to me.

Consider buying some real riding pants made from much better materials than leather. Lots of good choices out there.

I thought chaps were for cowboys?
