I put the 90 degree valve stems on some time back and the front one is on right so I assume the wheel is on right. I told them it was abs because of another screw up at another shop that put non abs bearings in......toasted the rotor. The kicker is I was going to do it myself but ran out of time with the tires, had a couple thousand mile trip coming up and just took it to them because it was the easier and quicker way........trip didn't materialize anyway.
I think they used the harley abs bearing, and I think they just put the orange side in instead of out. The grey color someone mentioned kind of threw me. I have the old set and may just try to take the abs one, with orange seal, and remove the seals to see what the hell is in there.
As I had mentioned, the shop guy just didn't think which side was in would matter and while I knew I had seen here the orange side went out, I couldn't explain why.
So now my explanation to them at the shop will be.......the orange side designates which side the encoder is on (behind the orange seal) and that it has to be out for the sensor to read it. Right??

ABS bearing on the left as that is where the sensor is, orange seal side goes in toward center. See pic that LCJ had once posted.

From the service manual. It is clear the greenish tan side goes against the installer to the outside of the wheel.

Make sure your tire rotation arrows are rolling the right way...toward the direction of travel...and that they are mounted/matched to the rotational orientation of the wheel. The front ABS bearing is on the left side, the rear abs bearing is on the right side.

ORANGE SIDE GOES INWARD.

Pic of left side of front wheel. ABS bearing with gray/olive side out:

Proper install sequence is to seat the abs bearing first in the wheel hub without over pressing the bearing (ie, use plenty of assembly lube or some kind of lube). Then turn the wheel over, insert the inner spacer, and install the non-abs bearing until it BARELY touches the inner spacer. Use some silver antiseize on the axle when re-installing.

If wheels, tires, and bearings are installed correctly, then check the abs data line. There is a connector under the left front faring that can come loose and lose signal from the front encoder. So check that connector to be sure it's tight. Also check to ensure the rear data like is tight.
