haha i always tell my southern and west coast buddies the same thing. Winter may be cold and miserable, but I can ride a sled and play in the snow. You can't "go out and play" in a hurricane, tornado, earthquake, extreme heat wave or forest fire. I'll take my northeast living over just about anywhere else in the country any day of the week.
sixshooter - after reading all the posts since mine, it's obvious a lot of folks just don't get us. Doesn't bother me, but guys like us dealing with our climate and limited resources, and taking it a step farther with the bike in the house thing, just grin at folks that won't venture outside the box, away from the herd, anyway. Life's short, enjoy it, challenge it, and when folks think you're crazy, that's just a sign you're having more fun than they are.

San Antonio...
No hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes or forest fires.
As for the heat, I ride in it.
I lived in the snowbelt of Northern Michigan... my snowmobiles were fun.
....but they damn sure ain't motorcycles.
The difference between winter there and summer here is I don't have to shovel all that damn heat and sunshine off my driveway so I CAN go ride.
The dealer in buffalo, according to my buddy, is doing a deal this year, $200 or $250, can't remember for sure, for the whole winter and then when you take it out of storage you get it all back on a gift card for the store. So basically free. I'd do it if I didn't have a mile long list of work I want to get done before its riding season again.
$310 at Southtowns HD in Buffalo. 2 years ago $220, last year $310. Although seriously how hard is it to blow $310 at the dealer? I reserved my spot this year but might not make it now since we got snowed in.
My 88yo in-laws offered to put it at the back of their heated garage for the winter. I could see them pulling in "I thought I hit the brake but it was the gas". I turned them down
