Default Factory pinstripes

I posted this question in the paint tech forum, but got no reply so I thought I might try it here. Mods, feel free to move this post if you like. I need to repaint my outer E Glide fairing. It's Vivid Black, and has silver pinstriping on it. I'd like to keep the pinstriping, but short of finding a guy who can paint the stripes is there another option? Does anyone know if a decal that I could put under the clearcoat that matches the original striping?

not a decal but there is stripe tape that your painter may be able to use to replicate w/o knowing how to do pinstriping. you lay it out and peel off the center strip of tape so there is a perfectly spaced gap. it comes in double stripes too.

Check out pinstripe rollers. Easy way to paint the double line like HD.

I know this isn't what you are looking for, but it's an option. Heck you might like it.

Try that link, they do pinstriping kits for Harleys.

Pin-striping is easy if you do it this way.

1. Prepare the fairing for paint and prime it.
2. Spray a several inch wide swath of the desired color of the pinstripe in the general area where you want the pinstripe. Silver in your case. Most auto paint suppliers can match the color easily.
3. Use thin masking tape, such as 1/8", 3/32", etc. that you can get at auto paint suppliers, and lay the tape down over the silver where you want the pinstripe. Tape is cheap, so lay it down, reposition it, pull it all off, start over, lay it down again, reposition, get mad and kick a wrench across the shop, pull it up, yell at the dog, rinse and repeat until you have it just right. When you are satisfied make sure you have pressed the thin tape down real well.
4. Squirt the black paint over the whole fairing.
5. Pull off the tape.
6. Cover it with clear coat.

If you put enough coats of clear on it you can sand it down enough to "bury" the pinstripes in clear before polishing, which leaves no bump or edge at the stripes. Just be careful not to sand too far and get into the paint. If you do, you will kick more wrenches across the shop floor and shout at your dog again. Don't ask how I know that.

Why don't you want to use a painter? My dealership ordered me replacement saddlebags and they didn't have the pinstripes so local painter did it in about 20 minutes. It was free to me but it would've been somewhere between 75 and $100.

Matched everything perfect and looks factory.

Thanks for the suggestions. While it's probable that there are some talented pinstripers locally (Houston), I don't know one personally. I'm open to the idea of the stripes that anonymous 1 linked, it appears they would require a complete repainting of all the tins to cover the existing stripes. Having never needing paint before, I'm just exploring my options.

I would do some research and find a local guy to do it.

I'll but guarantee there is someone in Htown that can do it.

Only thing I didn't like about this bike was the pinstriping.

Ask your dealer or Indie for a recommendation. Most shops send out for painting when doing upgrades or repairs.
